There are plenty of shifters on the market to replace your factory stick. And honestly in can sometimes be hard to choose one without actually getting some hands on rowing to feel the difference. One thing compounding matter is that some brand name shifters on the market are actually made by other companies. So when you look at one over the other and compare prices, sometimes in reality you are getting the same component regardless of which you choose.
Our friends at Scott Drake Mustang Parts have been in the business of design and manufacture of reproduction parts for decades. And since they moved their operations to Las Vegas, NV some years back the company has expanded their line of parts into the aftermarket for new Mustangs too. This move has brought their attention to detail and quality known by restorers around the world, to owners of current year Mustang and Shelbys.
To wit, they have just announced their own design and manufactured 6-speed short shifter for the 2007-2012 Shelby GT-500. Drake Muscle Cars says that their new GT-500 6-Speed Shifter is the most advanced shifter of it’s kind on the market.
Unique features include an anodized one piece billet frame and support arm housing that looks so good you wish it could be seen. Spring tension prevents missed shifts by forcing you into 3rd gear too, and that’s actually a common bugaboo with the stock factory shifter.
High durometer lever and mount bushings tighten up shifting feel and tightness. The leaver has unique adjustable cam shift stops and a revised pivot ratio for faster throws and quicker shifts. The lever is high alloy heat treated and nickel plated with a roller bearing lower shaft pivot bushing.
It’s designed to accept factory lever from 2007-09 GT500 models and includes a lever for 2010+ models to utilize the factory shift knob.
